This is the team welcome lunch for me, Darren and Vijay for joining the Requirement Managers team. It took place in a Greek restaurant. Greek food is mainly about BBQ and cheese, it is definitly delicious, but this greek lunch cost each of us a whopping $35!

The Greek liquor, Ouzo – with the taste of mint

Yiamas! Cheers to everyone.

Guess which two are the Greek?

Have you heard of The Cave Restaurant? No? Nor do I till 2 weeks ago. Was in SS2 with friends and cruising around the square to check out for new makan place. This restaurant outlook caught my eyes immediately, it says “The Cave – 24hours couple cafe and restaurant”.
So, out of curiosity, me and my friends decided to try it out. Something special is attracting us, INDEED it is very unique (not because it open for 24 hours, nowadays some McDonalds and KFC already did that)
The fact that it is called “The Cave” because the interior of the restaurant is built to mimic the nature of cave. Cannot imagine it? Do scroll down …
This is the place you will be seated while waiting to go in your own personal cave.
Walking up the staircase to first floor.
The long corridor that has cave rooms at both side. Each room is of different size and can accommodate 2 – 4 persons. A curtain is placed at the entrance of the cave room to give more privacy (may be that is why they named it the couple cafe and restaurant).
The food is quite good, they served western and chinese food. But I ordered western food because it feels kind of odd to eat “Dai Chao” in this ambience. Of course you have to pay a bit more compare to the usual restaurant for the same set of meal (they spent a fortune to build this cave thing for you!)
The cakes and cookies look pretty tempting.
Only till later on, that I found out this genious idea of dining in the cave is inspired by a place called “Cappadocia” in Turkey. The Cappadocia region is largely underlain by sedimentary rocks formed in lakes and streams, and ignimbrite deposits erupted from ancient volcanoes approximately 9 to 3 million years ago (late Miocene to Pliocene epochs). The rocks of Cappadocia near Göreme eroded into hundreds of spectacular pillars and minaret-like forms. The volcanic deposits are soft rocks that the people of the villages at the heart of the Cappadocia Region carved out to form houses, churches, monasteries.* taken from wikipedia *
Interesting? I am not sure if the Turkey Govt sponsored this as they are pushing for tourism in Turkey (which I also just happened to found out in KLIA the other day). But I realised there are so much to see in Turkey, and it is definitely a MUST-GO place in my to-be-visit-list.
Check out for more information about travalling in Turkey here or at least visit “The Cave” to have a feel of Cappadocia – the mini version.
