Finally, I am here, in the land of Melbourne…After telling the story of I will be coming here for errr…about 7 months.
Everything is like not so real till the moment I reached airport and checked in. Gosh, and my luggages were overweight for 18kgs!!! Luckily company is paying for the access luggage 😛 Don’t ask me the amount, it is ridiculous.

So, it ain’t no fun to travel when you are coughing badly. The cough wasn’t so bad the night, but I just didn’t manage to sleep the whole night through out the flight. Good thing is that we (me and my team mates) have four days to settle down in Melbourne before we need to report to office.
Once I arrived in the serviced apartment, I couldn’t help myself, but fallen in deep sleep in this nice double bed —->
Till the alarm rang and I pulled myself up to meet up my colleagues for lunch and for a walk in the CBD. Melbourne CBD is actually quite small, you could reach any places basically by walking (if you are not a lazy person). With the help of some handy map and my good sense of direction, we manage to find the office block. It is only about 15 minutes of walking distance from where we are staying.
Well, Melbourne was once voted the most livable city a few years ago. I am still yet to figure out why and how but generally the CBD area is quite nice. On the first day itself, we almost walk 2/3 of the city in searching for a free WiFi access (Yes, told you the CBD is small and Yes, they don’t have free WiFi access here!)
There are a lot of shopping areas, big malls, small malls, boutiques, high end fashion and local made. There are also plenty of eat out place, the cafe, restaurant, italian food, japanese food, korean food, chinese food, indonesian food, thai food and etc. I guess part of the most livable city probably due to the wide cultural based here…
Into the third day of living in Melbourne, yes, I am still coughing but getting better everyday. Manage to get myself a vodafone prepaid, the concept here is different, you pay for $29 and get a $150 credits…haha, good deal right? Nah, it is just one of their marketing scam…cause rates are much much more expensive here if you compare to Malaysia.
Managed to travel to a few places to look at the surroundings with my colleagues, the first stop is the ever famous St. Kilda Beach. Then we just drive around the inner suburb areas to check out the surroundings.

With the cough still kicking in, I didn’t spend a lot of time wondering around the city. But this morning I managed to pay a visit to Queen Victoria Market, is only 8 minutes walk from the place I am staying. See those cute little stalls selling different type of food…
You ask me how do I find Melbourne? I’ll say without family and friends, it just like every other cities that I have lived in…It’s still a long way to find my sense of belonging here for the next 11 months, but I guess with this—> —> Old Town Kopitiam opening in China Town!
It won’t be far away 😛
